When it comes to losing weight, minor modifications in diet and adjustments in lifestyle can go far in losing weight without having to go on a formal diet. This is especially useful after the holidays if you have over indulged and gone off your regular eating plan. The holidays are well known for eating too much and cheating on our regular diets.

These tips can also help to jump start your weight loss without it having too much of a psyhological impact and causing too much suffering.

Some old habits might have to go, but nothing good comes easy. These tips are fairly simple and you will lose weight, and that is always a good thing!

10 Tips To Lose Weight Without Strict Dieting

1. Lower Fats – Diets too high in fat contribute to extra weight and weight problems. Not more than 25% of calories from fat needs to be consumed and that should be unsaturated fat.

2. Vegges and Fruits – Vegetables and fruits are packed with helpful vitamins. They’ll make you feel full a lot more and they are low in calories.  Eat no less than 5 portions of fruits and vegetables per day. These are especially good to lose those holiday pounds and for those of us who ate too much sugar, candy and other bad things.

3. Water is Good – Water acts for many vitamins and minerals, as well as responsible for the nutrients in the cells and purifies waste, for the proper functioning of the organism. To preserve the nutrients in the balance, drink plenty of plain unflavored water daily. Water is also great for making you feel full and so can really be a great substitute for over eating and excessive snacking.

5. Eat More - Eat more smaller meals per day instead of 3 big meals a day, this helps to increase metabolism and keep you fuller longer. This is a great method to lose those holiday pounds and get you back in shape.

6. Skip Processed Foods - Processed or canned foods are often high sodium and fat content. Always go for fresh and raw foods and prepare them yourself.

7. Watch out for “Low” Foods – Just because a product manufacturer calls their foods low in fat, calories or sugar does not mean it’s good for you. Look at labels food packaging.

8. Exercise and Movement – Many experts recommend at least 20 minutes of physical activity several times per week in order to lose weight and be healthy. This will help to burn calories and increase metabolism. You can include yoga as the part of your daily regime for the long term plan of weight loss.

9. Skip the Soda and Juices – Don’t use colas and other sugary drinks, like juices which often have a lot of empty calories and sugar. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Use diet soda and diet drinks or plain coffee and tea!

10. Calories Count - Forget about counting calories but try cutting everything you eat in half each meal, simple and effective!
